Writeous 2011 Maine Writing Project 9781466274846 Books Reviews
This collection represents brave, honest and formidable writers. Entertaining and enlightening, this literary potpourri includes textured short stories, evocative poems and well-painted critical essays. Most importantly, the work reveals personal, intimate and telling insights from each artist. The book reads at times, with all of its undertones and overtones, as private journal entries intended only for the authors. Fortunately for the reader, these authors didn't keep this for themselves and truly shared from the inside out.
What a wonderful anthology! All of these authors show the face behind the teacher's mask; what we find are humans with great senses of humor, insecurities, dreams, ideas, secrets, tragedies, joys. So . . . just like the rest of the human race, I guess.
Poetry, stories, memoir, and art all blend together to tell a story of the summer of writing this group did, and just for laughs, check out "The Dissolution of the MWP, After Robert Service." They sound like a wild bunch!
